Divine Mercy

Almost everyone in the church has now heard about the Divine Mercy movement and revelations to a young uneducated nun, Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska, who was in a convent called the Congregation of Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy in Poland during the 1930s.

Saint Faustina experienced revelations and messages from Jesus that speak directly to our times, and they were published from her writings in the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska.  The Diary holds significant warnings for the hour mankind finds itself in:

Secretary of My mercy, write, tell souls about this great mercy of Mine, because the awful day, the day of My justice is near. (Diary Entry 965).

and

Write down these words, my daughter. Speak to the world about My mercy; let all mankind recognize My unfathomable mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it will come the day of justice. While there is still time let them have recourse to the fount of My mercy … (Diary Entry 848).

Her many messages echo several of my own experiences of Jesus, accompanied by urgent exhortation messages for us to repent and amend our lives.  Messages such as:

TELL SOULS TO HAVE RECOURSE TO MY MERCY WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME FOR MERCY. I LOVE YOU AND YOU ARE MINE.” (Jesus to me – March 6, 2005)

and

My sweet and tender child of Mercy, write that I am in love with the world.” (Jesus – November 25, 2007) and REPENT!!! JUDGEMENT IS AT YOUR DOOR!!!” (Urgent, urgent, urgent narrated message from Jesus – June 12, 2008)

Jesus made clear the times we are now in when he said to St. Faustina:

Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world. I do not want to punish aching mankind, but I desire to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful Heart. I use punishment when they themselves force Me to do so; My hand is reluctant to take hold of the sword of justice. Before the Day of Justice I am sending the Day of Mercy” (Diary Entry 1588)

Dr. Robert Stackpole, STD, Director of the John Paul II Institute of Divine Mercy, based in Stockbridge Massachusetts, speaks here about the spread of the Divine Mercy message throughout the world, and its implications for our times; the spread of the gospel and the message of Divine Mercy that precedes the Second Coming of Jesus.

The use of technology and global communications in our time has done much to bring about the worldwide preaching of the gospel and the message of God’s unfathomable mercy.  However, certain areas of the world, such as China, remain difficult areas to evangelize. Jesus in Matthew 24 had much to say about the preaching of the gospel message to the whole world and the signs of the times:

The Destruction of the Temple and Signs of the End Times
24 Jesus left the temple and was walking away when his disciples came up to him to call his attention to its buildings. 2 “Do you see all these things?” he asked. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”

3 As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”

4 Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. 6 You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7 Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these are the beginning of birth pains.

9 “Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10 At that time many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12 Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13 but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

15 “So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’[a] spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand— 16 then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let no one on the housetop go down to take anything out of the house. 18 Let no one in the field go back to get their cloak. 19 How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20 Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again.

22 “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time.

26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather.

29 “Immediately after the distress of those days

“‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’[b]

30 “Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth[c] will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.[d] 31 And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other.

32 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33 Even so, when you see all these things, you know that it[e] is near, right at the door. 34 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

The Day and Hour Unknown
36 “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son,[f] but only the Father. 37 As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39 and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41 Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

42 “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43 But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

45 “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom the master has put in charge of the servants in his household to give them their food at the proper time? 46 It will be good for that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns. 47 Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But suppose that servant is wicked and says to himself, ‘My master is staying away a long time,’ 49 and he then begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards. 50 The master of that servant will come on a day when he does not expect him and at an hour he is not aware of. 51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” (New International Version)

In these verses Jesus refers to events that must come as the beginnings of birth pains.  It is as though the entire creation is groaning in the birthing of the sons and daughters of our Father, and until that time as the birthing process is complete, we all continue to labour – for the Kingdom – and for growth in ourselves in holiness.

A dream experience I had in January, 2010 illustrates both the joy and pain of the ‘birthing process’ as it relates to Divine Mercy, and I wonder at its symbolism regarding our Eastern brothers and sisters:

I had a dream where I was in a large building.  I walked past a room where I heard sounds of what I thought was crying and lamenting.  The door was closed as I walked past it the first time, so I could not tell for sure what was occurring, but I knew it was a large labour room.

I continued walking to the area I was supposed to be in, and found myself sitting in a chair with one of my Divine Mercy cenacle friends – her name was Collette (which means “Victorious People”).  We sat in something like meeting room chairs – waiting for something.

All of a sudden there was much excitement and activity.  Collette ran off in the direction of it.  I too began to get up and go find out what was occurring.

All of a sudden I realized I was in the Divine Mercy Centre in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.  I came into an adjoining room and realized there was much hoopla because the nuns of the Centre were on the move – marching in a procession to somewhere – as if for a special ceremony or Mass, and they were all dressed head to toe completely in white – not one speck of colour – full white habits.

I knew this first before seeing it because as I came into the room I saw Pope John Paul II.  He was at another entrance or doorway to this room I had come into and he stood completely opposite to me at opposite entrances to the same room.  I looked straight at him and he at me, but he did not speak.  His expression was neither joyful nor sorrowful, as I remembered it.  If I had to label it I would say it appeared ‘matter of fact’ – steady, even, plain and matter of fact.

Then I went outside, to the right, and saw the massive chapel of Stockbridge and saw the nuns then all processing outdoors in a courtyard or something – wearing their white robes for some special occasion – going I know not where, but getting ready for a big event.  Then I realized there were people – like people visiting on a pilgrimage – everywhere there!

I marvelled at how teeming this place was – the interest and excitement at whatever special thing was taking place there.

As I walked back to join the crowds and the procession, etc., I passed the same large birthing room I had passed with the closed door the first time.  This time the door was open and I saw and knew what the cries and lamenting were all about.  I saw an oriental mother had given birth to twins.  It had been a difficult birth, but I saw her standing and being supported by another lady – perhaps her mother, and I saw the twins on a delivery table of sorts.  The doctor was working on them and they appeared joined somehow, but alive.  I was relieved to know all the noise and pain was to give rise to this and not a stillbirth, as I had feared.  I then went outside to join the nuns, crowd & procession.

Upon awakening it did not surprise me to see that the image of JPII was in this dream about Divine Mercy, as the Centre in Stockbridge writes about his personal passion for the writings of St. Faustina, the inception of the movement, and the installation of the second Sunday of Easter as Divine Mercy Sunday in the church:

Pope John Paul II, both in his teaching and personal life, strove to live and teach the message of Divine Mercy. As the great Mercy Pope, he wrote an encyclical on Divine Mercy:

“The Message of Divine Mercy has always been near and dear to me… which I took with me to the See of Peter and which it in a sense forms the image of this Pontificate.”

In his writings and homilies, he has described Divine Mercy as the answer to the world’s problems and the message of the third millennium. He beatified and canonized Sr. Maria Faustina Kowalska, the nun associated with the message, and he did it in Rome and not in Poland to underscore that Divine Mercy is for the whole world.

Establishing Divine Mercy Sunday for the Entire Church
When Pope John Paul canonized Sr. Faustina (making her St. Faustina), he also, on the same day, surprised the entire world by establishing Divine Mercy Sunday (the feast day associated with the message) as a feast day for the entire Church. The feast day falls on the Second Sunday of the Easter season. On that day, Pope John Paul II declared, “This is the happiest day of my life.”

Entrusting the World to Divine Mercy
In 2002, the Pope entrusted the whole world to Divine Mercy when he consecrated the International Shrine of The Divine Mercy in Lagiewniki, a suburb of Krakow in Poland. This is where St. Faustina’s mortal remains are entombed. The saint lived in a convent nearby. The Pope himself remembers as a young man working in the Solvay Quarry, just a few meters from the present-day Shrine. He also says that he had been thinking about Sr. Faustina for a long time when he wrote his encyclical on Divine Mercy. Further, the Holy Father has frequently quoted from the Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska and has prayed The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy at the saint’s tomb.

Beyond the Life of John Paul II
Given all these connections to Divine Mercy and St. Faustina, is it any wonder that Pope John Paul II died on the Vigil of Divine Mercy Sunday (the evening before the feast day), which fell that year on April 3?. It is also no surprise that the Great Mercy Pope left us a message for Divine Mercy Sunday, which was read on the feast day by a Vatican official to the faithful in St. Peter’s after a Mass that had been celebrated for the repose of the soul of the Pope.

Repeatedly Pope John Paul II has written and spoken about the need for us to turn to the mercy of God as the answer to the specific problems of our times. He has placed a strong and significant focus on the Divine Mercy message and devotion throughout his pontificate that will carry the Church long after his death. “(www.thedivinemercy.org)

The movement of Divine Mercy was clearly a calling very close to the heart of our former Pontiff.  It is also a call that is close to my heart, though I have a feeling part of my overall ministry is to prepare the world for the future time of God’s justice as well.  This calling was the reason I joined a local Divine Mercy Cenacle, and continue to labour for the Kingdom with the work that Jesus has given me to do.

And so I leave you with this little meditation today, as we are in the period of the Novena to Divine Mercy.  Should you wish to join this Novena, please click the link & start praying (and play catch up from its start on Good Friday).  Also consider joining a Divine Mercy cenacle in your area, or reciting this prayer daily.  Our times demand that the faithful invest themselves in as much prayer as possible so that the Mercy of God be brought to those who desperately need to hear the message of Mercy.

Lastly, find out if your parish has a special celebration of Divine Mercy Sunday, coming up next Sunday on April 8th.  God bless you this Easter Season!

As I sit to write this on Holy Thursday and turned to open my dream binder to the next chronological sharing in this series, I opened my book to a simple, beautiful sentence spoken to me by Jesus as I was falling asleep on Nov. 25, 2007 – which happened to be the feast of Christ the King.  He said, and I share it with you now because I think He wants you all to hear this, this Holy Thursday:

My sweet and tender child of Mercy, write that I am in love with the world.”

This beautiful sentiment from Jesus came at a time when it meant so very much to me to be called His sweet and tender child of Mercy…It also came days after my formal induction into our local Divine Mercy movement.  But the most important part of that message is His wish for all peoples as I relay it to you today:  He is in love with the world!” (emphasis my own).

I can vouchsafe this as I have seen His Sacred Heart and let me tell you brother (or sister) that you do not have a shadow of the idea of the truth of that love.  I have said it before and I shall say it again here and now that the Sacred Heart of Jesus is like a nuclear bomb of love and even that description falls short….So when Jesus says that He is in love with the world I want you to truly understand what He means:  It means His love is over and above everything – above all evil; above all sin; above all hatred, distress, hopelessness and dismay.  The only thing separating anyone from that Love is the fallout shelter of the hardness of their own hearts.  I earnestly add my plea to His in saying it is so time to let down the wall of disbelief, arrogance, doubt and indifference that may surround your own heart:

Now is the time to come out of your resolute disbelief in God.

Now is the time to come out of the shallow, discordant attachment to the fluff of the world.

Now is the time to clean up your act.

I say this for many reasons, but in great part because I have also seen the antithesis to love – the devil and his demons – and let me tell you they are not pretty… They are full of seething hatred towards all mankind and especially those in committed loving service to God….but also let me tell you that it doesn’t matter if they hate the ones who turn to God with a special vengeance.  The truth is that the latter of these are the ones who are safeeeeeeee!  We are the ones who have escaped their horrible, incredibly strong grasp.

This truth isn’t one you may hear of in most places – even in church.  I know it isn’t a truth people want to hear about – putting their hands over their ears and saying ‘lalalalalallalalala..” so as not to listen to the possibility of the truth of the existence of Satan and demons. I used to be one of them.   But I would be remiss in my ministry if I didn’t witness to this truth in an effort to compel you to seek good and God.  Those who are not actively seeking God and good are already in the hands of Satan – unbeknownst to them – save the innocent children before the age of reason where the ability to discern good and evil is sufficiently developed.

Jesus does love the world.  He loves it so much that He has sent warning so many times and in so many ways, and my ministry and witness is just another means He is using to reach the souls He loves so much.  The profound volume of spiritual experiences that I have slowly been unfolding on this website is a small testimony to this love and warning.  And so, without further ado, I share a couple more profound spiritual dreams – given I believe – to help testify to the truth of God and the need of each soul to seek Him – a means to help step out of evil’s grasp:

Friday May 4, 2007 approx 6 a.m.

Dreamt I was with people in a walk through dangerous territory, but people didn’t know it.  I traversed the narrow path on the side of this road – up to the hill part of it.  I emerged safely at a destination and I think went through a door.  However, I was then called by someone to an area on the path after I safely made it to my destination because people were walking with me (we walked along this path beside a road adjacent to a thick forest/woods) and they were disappearing and were abducted and snatched on their walk through this path.  They were being abducted into the woods.

I went into the fray head on – into the thick of the battle to help these souls out.  There was so much evil everywhere.  Horrible beings in hidden disguises were doing this – snatching people.  They particularly hated me and my intervention.

Then in the dream the area in front of the woods/road/path became a pit (I saw it after I came back from my safe passage and was told other people weren’t making it and were being lost/abducted).  I had a man with me who was strong – a priest?  I saw a person who had been abducted and was getting sucked under, but with me and a priest helping me, we had pulled him out with a double armlock around his neck/head.  We had pulled him out but it had required great force.  It took much strength and force to rescue souls from this pit as the evil beings/monsters were very strong.

As we pulled this one person out the beings were holding on with all their might and their jagged teeth – they were even holding his foot – it was the last thing pulled out.  I saw his leg – it had severe gash wounds from the evil beings in the pit.  After he was safely pulled out and was lying on the ground next to the pit the evil beings came up out of the pit seething in anger and fury at me.  I saw them.  They were ferocious, hideous, evil and monster-looking – not from this world.  They showed themselves to me as they were.  I saw them as they were without any disguise.  They were reptilian looking.  I invoked the protection of the Precious Blood of Jesus over me and all the souls in this area and all the souls were with me and then I saw their locks pop open (they were like handcuffs binding them) and they were free.  They walked out to safety – a great group of them that I had thus helped save.

People didn’t know how to disarm the evil beings; ie. what their weakness was and how they could break the hold they had on people.  These were good people/workers who were trying to help the others who were being abducted and taken into this pit.  After I invoked the protection of the Precious Blood I walked back to the door I had safely made it to where these other good people were.  They were trying to find a way to help others that were trapped, and I told them (as I could see the inside truth in this spiritual battle) that the invocation of the Precious Blood of Jesus was what worked.  I said:

It is what works on them!!!”

Then after I told the good workers/helpers this I turned to my right and raised my hands together into the air, looking up to God in the sky through a plexi-glass or glass-like dome roof.  It had become like a train inside a building (this area where I had rescued/seen souls in the pit and the horrible beings).  I sobbed so badly to Jesus:

Remove us from this trial, Jesus”

Then the train rose, as if the front was being lifted off the rack and pulled up to safety out and away.  I don’t know where to, but the front of the train started to rise.  The dream continued in what was a beautiful personal experience of Jesus…spiritual moments that I find hard to experience now because I have to return to the world when I wake.  Only those who have experienced similar things will understand.

As I share these things there is one thing that I wish people to understand.  Out of the hearts of humans comes the heart of evil in the world – the heart of chaos.  The devil and his demons do everything in their power to influence people to this.  God, Jesus, Mary, holy angels and holy souls are continually working for humans on the other team – a team far larger and in the end unbeatable.  This war is being waged every day in your soul and in your free will you have been given the greatest gift – choice of how to live the life you have been given.  The decision of who you let influence your choices rests ultimately with you.

Herein lies the simple truth of the battle.  What you choose can make a profound difference.  A difference for not only yourselves, but for your neighbour, your children and the future of the world

I’ve already made my choice – and the repercussions of it are splattered all over the pages of this website.  I leave you with the following dream as a call to arms and a witness to a sliver of  the incredible power behind the one who but says yes…

Wednesday May 2, 2007

I remember a brief dream or end of a longer more involved dream that I didn’t record until the afternoon but remembered well.  It had to do with me being in a room with people.  I saw to my left through a large glass window God’s light and spirit smashing down to me/into me on a diagonal trajectory from the sky – through the window – to where I stood.  It completely lit me up and filled every fibre of my being like lightening with crackling, fiery, spark-like electrical fire – particularly my hands (maybe because I’d have to type so much lol…).  I was receiving/had received great power to witness to people.  Something about the time for me to start witnessing – talking/revealing that which I knew and had received.  I spoke to God just after this happened most powerfully about how vociferous I was in my commitment to Him and His mission for me.  I remember no words, but words cannot describe the force or level of my response to Him!

I looked around to all who were with me in the room (you…!).  They were ones paying attention – willing and interested in hearing my witness.  I thought briefly of how to open the presentation of everything I know and have seen and been given and everything I have experienced.  I decided to start with a question that I thought would strike most people’s insides most quickly and directly:

Don’t you want to know why you’re here?”(meaning people’s existence and lives on this earth)

I spoke directly, simply and to the point:

You’re here to learn how to love!  It’s that simple – and that hard!!!”

I spoke about how others must strive to be as perfect as they could in love and I think this caused some to squirm a little and back off and the crowd listening to me thinned as some were not ready and couldn’t handle hearing what I told them love demanded of them…

So, how about you? What are you going to choose?  Happy Easter!

It is a difficult thing to sit and write about times many believe are coming – a shake-up in the world if you will.  But honestly, one has only to look at the headlines to see these times are already here.  Many believe, myself included, that we have been living in a time of mercy that is about to expire…but what does that mean?  I quote from church-approved revelation from the 1930’s from the Diary of St. Faustina Kowalska:

Write, speak of My mercy.  Tell souls where they are to look for solace; that is, in the Tribunal of Mercy (the Sacrament of Reconciliation).  There the greatest miracles take place and are incessantly repeated.  To avail oneself of this miracle, it is not necessary to go on a great pilgrimage or to carry out some external ceremony; it suffices to come with faith to the feet of My representative and to reveal to him one’s misery, and the miracle of Divine Mercy will be fully demonstrated.  Were a soul like a decaying corpse so that from a human standpoint, there would be no (hope of) restoration and everything would already be lost, it is not so with God.  The miracle of Divine Mercy restores that soul in full.  Oh, how miserable are those who do not take advantage of the miracle of God’s mercy!  You will call out in vain, but it will be too late.”  Jesus to St. Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul – Diary of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska; Marian Press, Stockbridge

I have already shared my personal experience of the miracle of the confessional in my writing “Rejoice with Me, For I have Found my Sheep that was Lost”.  I can’t even begin to tell you how grateful I am that I sit on the other side of my first confession…the graces that have followed incessantly after this…the unseen graces that got me there!  It is my wish and prayer that you are one who heeds my witness and avails yourself of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession).  The modern church doesn’t seem to preach it as much as I hear it used to and this is an error.  With the times that are here and the times that are coming, it should be the most fervent sermon coming from the pulpits…So just in case you don’t hear it there you will hear it time and time again from me in this little blog…

The confessionals should be full of those seeking My grace and mercy.  Do not hesitate; go today, even as you read this so that you will not be one held accountable for these sins and errors.  I do not wish to see you perish in eternal fire, but you separate yourselves from Me by your obstinacy in sin and refusal to repent.  Rise above the standards of this world and do what you know is right in your hearts without waiting for tomorrow to come.

Today is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.  Use your time wisely, as you may never know when it will be your day to account for all that you have done in your life, that is, your individual day of judgement, your death on this earth.”  Jesus to “Mariamante” in “The Apostolate of Holy Motherhood”, The Riehle Foundation

I now share the next chronological dream experience which speaks of the dwindling of the days of mercy; to be followed by the necessary days of God’s justice…

Dreamt I was standing in the back yard of my childhood home in Heart’s Desire in the days when it was a huge garden, but the time was the present – I was an adult (now).  I stood on a little path facing south that had two dividers on either side of me like a vertical archway that had two flat sides, but no top.  I looked straight up because all of a sudden in the daytime, clear sky above me appeared a HUGE angel of God – mostly the face, and in the appearance of a large, billowing cloud of unusual colour.  It appeared olive green, if I had to choose a colour.  It was a massive angel and I knew it was a vengeance angel of God – to bring a punishment.

I immediately got down on my knees and started praying to God, all the while staring straight up at this sight, saying “Have mercy on your creation, God!” (over and over and over again).  I was MOST upset.  The cloud lightened a little in colour/darkness, but did not go away.  The face of the angel was present the whole time – severe, stern face.

There was at least one other man standing beside me to my left who witnessed what I did and said, but no-one else could see what I could and they wondered what on earth I was saying that for and kneeling, but I didn’t care what they thought.

Then I turned around fully and saw to my right (in the East) a swarm of locusts (big billowing, forming, swarming cloud of bugs – locusts).  They were forming in the sky in a huge cloud and they began to move westward in a swarm of descending attack/onslaught over my area (Canada?/West?).  They were definitely moving East to West and descended in attack in the area I was in.

Everyone started to rush into the house and close sliding horizontal windows and doors, but some were trapped in the outermost rooms of the house – where the locusts were able to swarm in.  Some people made it into interior rooms and doors had to be closed to protect the ones inside.  It was a quick, sudden, unexpected thing and people were caught unprepared.

I, however, was in an innermost chamber/room/fireplace of this house – in the very centre and was safe.  Others were also safe in some inner rooms further to the outer part of the house than mine, but a few locusts buried even into the inner parts of the home.

I woke in horror as in the dream I sat in my inner room – with brick or stone walls all around me, except the front, which had solid iron-type bars or a grid door in front of me.  I could see all of this taking place, without being harmed or in danger.

I would not want to venture a guess as to what the ‘locust plague’ in this dream referred to, but even the average person associates it with destruction.  From the Church of God, Daily Bible Study online I offer the following:

Locust plagues were sometimes used as agents of God’s wrath against those who opposed Him:

“Then The Lord [see Rock Of Ages] said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the land of Egypt for the locusts, that they may come upon the land of Egypt, and eat every plant in the land, all that the hail has left.”“So Moses stretched forth his rod over the land of Egypt, and The Lord brought an east wind upon the land all that day and all that night; and when it was morning the east wind had brought the locusts. And the locusts came up over all the land of Egypt, and settled on the whole country of Egypt, such a dense swarm of locusts as had never been before, nor ever shall be again. For they covered the face of the whole land, so that the land was darkened, and they ate all the plants in the land and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left; not a green thing remained, neither tree nor plant of the field, through all the land of Egypt.” (Exodus 10:12-15 RSV)

Locust plagues were also sometimes used as agents of God’s wrath against His own people when they were disobedient to Him:

“Then The Lord appeared to Solomon in the night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice [see Temples]. When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:12-14 RSV)

End-Time Symbolism

Locusts were also used as symbols of end-time, armor-plated, missile-firing, flying war-machines that were not known to the writers of The Bible (see also The Seven Seals):

“And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth, and he was given the key of the shaft of the bottomless pit; he opened the shaft of the bottomless pit, and from the shaft rose smoke like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft.”“Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth, and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth; they were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green growth or any tree, but only those of mankind who have not the seal of God upon their foreheads; they were allowed to torture them for five months, but not to kill them, and their torture was like the torture of a scorpion, when it stings a man. And in those days men will seek death and will not find it; they will long to die, and death will fly from them.”

“In appearance the locusts were like horses arrayed for battle; on their heads were what looked like crowns of gold; their faces were like human faces, their hair like women’s hair, and their teeth like lions’ teeth; they had scales like iron breastplates, and the noise of their wings was like the noise of many chariots with horses rushing into battle. They have tails like scorpions, and stings, and their power of hurting men for five months lies in their tails. They have as king over them the angel of the bottomless pit; his name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in Greek he is called Apollyon.” (Revelation 9:1-11 RSV)

In my next writing I share the next dream chronologically which was a very detailed experience of that locust plague; a dream only a little over a week after the one above…the experience of these two left me very rattled and yet very determined, yet again, to redouble my efforts in prayer to aid our fellow brothers and sisters.   For now my dreams only sit as warnings…please don’t let it be after the fact that you say…‘Oh, I should have listened’!

St. Faustina with Divine Mercy Image

Today is Divine Mercy Sunday in the Catholic Church.  To some in the Church this will be old news.  To many, however, it will give pause as they question just what this means.  It is a day when we venerate God’s most beautiful attribute, His Mercy and a day that each and every person can draw down great graces from heaven – for themselves and others. It is also the feast day that follows completion of a nine day novena – the Chaplet of Divine Mercy – that was dictated by Jesus to a Polish contemplative nun in the 1930’s.  This chaplet and her many other supernatural experiences have been compiled in a book called Divine Mercy in My Soul; Diary of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska.  Click the link here to find out more information about this Feast Day and the Devotion to the Divine Mercy, or visit the section Mission in this website.

To fully understand the significance of this day, and the essence of her mission, it is necessary to become acquainted with this book.  The easiest way for me to familiarize you quickly with this important work is to present the synopsis found on its back cover:

“A Mystic with a Message for the New Millennium”

Shortly before the outbreak of World War II, a simple, uneducated, young Polish nun receives a special call.  Jesus tells her, ““I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world.  I do not want to punish mankind, but I desire to heal it, pressing it to my Merciful Heart.”  Jesus also tells her to record His message of mercy in a diary:  “You are the secretary of My Mercy.  I have chosen you for that office in this and the next life.”

These words of Jesus are found in the Diary of St. Maria Faustina Kowalska, which chronicles St. Faustina’s great experience of Divine Mercy in her soul and her mission to share that mercy with the world.

Though she died in obscurity in 1938, Sr. Faustina is now hailed by Pope John Paul II as “the great apostle of Divine Mercy in our time.”  On April 30, 2000, the Pope canonized her as St. Faustina, saying that the message of Divine Mercy she shared is urgently (emphasis mine) needed at the dawn of the new millennium.  Over half a million copies of the Diary have been sold worldwide.

In the Diary, this woman mystic’s childlike trust, simplicity, and intimacy with Jesus will stir your heart and soul.  Her spiritual insights will surprise and reward you.  “Only love has meaning,” she writes.  “It raises up our smallest actions into infinity.”

How did St. Faustina grow in deeper trust and intimacy with Jesus?  What promises did He make to her?  Discover the answers to these questions and many more in the Diary of St. Faustina.  (Divine Mercy in My Soul:  Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. c.1993 Congregation of The Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy)

I would like to share with you a quotation from this Diary.  I have quoted from this resource before and probably will do so many times in this ministry because the words and experiences she received in the 1930’s are for our times:

In the Old Covenant I sent prophets wielding thunderbolts to My people.  Today I am sending you with My mercy to the people of the whole world.  I do not want to punish aching mankind, but desire to heal it, pressing it to My Merciful Heart.  I use punishment when they themselves force Me to do so;  My hand is reluctant to take hold of the sword of justice.  Before the Day of Justice I am sending the Day of Mercy. (Jesus to St. Faustina, Divine Mercy in My Soul:  Diary of Saint Maria Faustina Kowalska. c.1993 Congregation of The Sisters of Our Lady of Mercy; entry #1588)

This is a significant passage, for the world is presently in the Day of Mercy.  As I have already written, I believe a significant part of my mission is to prepare the world for God’s justice.  This is not a pleasant task.  I have already worn and will probably wear in future the label ‘chicken little‘.  But this does not matter.  I would rather wear that label and warn you of the things that I have seen and heard from God, than not speak and be accountable that you were not able to hear the warnings from someone.  It will not be me that does not speak up, for I love you all far too much to do that.   And so, with love and warning, I share the following dream.  My spiritual director believes I have been given a special gift to occasionally ‘see’ into the spirit realm through dream, vision and word, and the following message of this dream was so compelling it caused me to immediately step up my prayers and hopefully will encourage you to do the same:

Jesus Crying

Jesus Crying

Wednesday, April 23, 2003 approx 3:30 a.m.

I had a dream where I was in the livingroom of my childhood home in Heart’s Desire.  All of a sudden I started to go to heaven by some major energy rush.  I could feel my body dematerialize or lift into a spirit form.  It happened in an instant.  One minute I was standing in my material body, then I was caught up in this energy rush and changed into spirit form.  It was the most amazing feeling.  I was in a holding pattern (not going to heaven and not in the material world) as I hovered over the living room.  I said to one of my daughters who was sitting on the couch “I’m between worlds – can you still see me?”

I was floating suspended over the room.  Then another daughter told me she saw two lines of writing on the hanging edge of an ivory paper tablecloth that covered the dining room table.  The two lines were written at the end of the tablecloth off the short side – right near the end of the tablecloth.  I could see the lines too, but she had to read them to me.  She quoted them to me, but because she was a child she couldn’t remember all of the first line.  It was:

“The Son (or sun)…He will smite them with His sword and His Justice.”

Then the dream scene changed and I looked and saw my own living room furniture (or a reasonable facsimilie thereof) had been moved slightly.  The couch was slid to the left and there was a table in its place.  On the table was a white porcelain statue of a crouching or hunched over angel.  There were other white porcelain religious figure statues all over the room.  The angel statue on the table was crying copious tears.  A statue of Jesus was pouring tears (His statue was seated in a chair of some kind – looked like a rocking chair) opposite the table.  Other statues in the room were also pouring copious tears.  I saw the angel statue first and was alarmed and tried to console her.  I started to recite my Hail Mary.  Then I turned to the statue of Jesus in the chair.  As I recited He came to life and I was hugging Him and caressing Him.  He started to show a small heartened look/half smile of love, but very mildly – like a smile of resignation, through tears; as if somewhat consoled.  I was saying “Don’t cry!” and He was approving of my saying the Hail Mary.  I was consoling Him.  He slowly stopped crying, but He was very sombre and resigned.  He said no words.

Then the room was restored, with the furniture in the original position – the couch moved back to the right.  Then I found myself out on a street with my rosary telling a character in the dream, Renata (which I found out later, coincidentally – or not – means ‘re-born’), that she should recite the rosary as often as possible – the need was urgent!  I also knew I had to recite it almost non-stop if possible.  I got ready to go somewhere with my family.

I said two decades right after I woke from this dream for the intention of more time for the world because this dream left me so concerned.  At the time I recorded this dream I also wrote:  ‘I said these two decades especially in light of the other spiritual dreams I have had lately.  There is an awful foreboding in all my dreams lately.  This dream left me so concerned as to the state and times of our world that I called a good friend and told her to gather up all her courage and not put off confession for another moment.’  (She took my advice and her life has profoundly changed in a beautiful way since…)

I also immediately increased my daily rosary from 15 decades to 20 and it stayed that way until my sixth child was born in 2005, and then I decreased it back to 15, because with six children and a new baby I just couldn’t keep up the 20!

As a parting thought to encourage you to heed my witness, and if possible, increase your prayers to help your sisters and brothers, I share with you words dictated by God, the Father in a dream:

March 6, 2005

Tell souls to have recourse to My Mercy while there is still time for mercy.   I love you and you are mine.”
